Coffee Session with Antonín

Ability to choose a job based on the future "boss" is great. So we invited our Team Leaders to a virtual cup of coffee and asked them a few questions for you. And the bosses suddenly became people of flesh and blood and helped to complete the idea of our corporate culture.

ANTONÍN PAVELKA, ERP CZ Services

When I get up for work, I look forward to: New challenges that we deal with daily in the team. I like it when the daily routine goes without unnecessary activities and it is possible to engage in more interesting project activities.

My career path: I started as a database programmer. Since 2002 I have been dealing mainly with SAP systems. I started as a consultant for one module (SAP CO) and ended up as an SAP architect and manager of a SAP specialist team.

I am responsible for: I am primarily responsible for ensuring that the customer is satisfied with our delivery. But I also feel responsible for the inner atmosphere in the team, so that we are able to perform above standard.

The most amazing part of my job is: If we can solve a problem that lay "on the table" for a long time as a challenge and where there was no clear technical solution.

The biggest challenge I faced: The division of the SAP HR system within the division of the concern on the customer's side. We received one functional SAP and the output was 3 functional SAP systems with relevant data, including connection to the new infrastructure.

The most memorable moment in my career: Feedback from the customer that he did not believe that we were able to deliver the project mentioned above in the promised time and quality.

I expect people to: Independence, proactive approach, to not be afraid to design new and untested solutions, which are often beneficial. Willingness to fill in for a colleague and learn new things.

When leading people I consider important: Confidence in the employee that he or she will take on the assigned tasks responsibly. I don't like micro-management and I don't practice it. I do not evaluate the work intensity, but the efficiency and the result.

When I’m not working: I'm thinking about work, I'm a bit of a workaholic. ?

Interview with an RPA Developer

Interview with an RPA Developer

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a technological trend that we have discussed with our colleague and RPA developer Andrej.

(Andrej loves folklore, so you can easily identify him on a photo.)

How was your first meeting with RPA?

"It was two years ago, after the completion of a previous project, where I worked as a Java developer. At that time, FPT was launching a new RPA automation project for Innogy. Since it was a new thing, I was interested.”

Describe your team and the volume of the automated processes.

"The project has been running since 2017, I joined in the middle of 2018. The integration of the team is currently underway within the new infrastructure of our customer. This is also related to the division of the team into operational and development parts. We have a total of 7 automators in the team, four of them in Košice and also two analysts who prepare processes for automation. The automated processes are diverse, depending on the customer, as they are processes within the entire group. We currently have 13 customers.”

How is the complexity or difficulty of processes that you are automating?

"The complexity of the process depends on the number of technologies used. An example is the process which we start by obtaining input data from the e-mail, which we then use in SAP. We process them there, export them to Excel and process them again in a web application. Finally, we send an email about the successful completion of the requested operation. In practice, this means a large number of steps and, in particular, exceptions that need to be considered. On the other hand, in processes that use less technology, the emphasis is often placed on the processing speed. This involves, for example, processing of large amounts of input data."

What do you consider most challenging in the process development?

"In addition to automating new processes, I also do support for the older ones. This means that the more processes the automator has processed, the more work he has if one of them does not work or needs to be modified. That is why it is sometimes difficult to focus on developing a new process and at the same time make it all on schedule.”

What do you like most about working with RPA?

"I like to see that the automated process works properly and helps the customer in practice. I also like the variety of processes in which I can use knowledge from previous projects.”

What assumptions or knowledge should an RPA developers have?

"Definitely the ability to learn and adapt quickly, always coming up with new solutions. The more technologies a person comes into contact with, the easier it will be to be able to process new processes. It is also good to be able to think like a programmer, ie. know something about recursion or objects - this can be applied to process design.”

What is your view of the RPA perspective? Will it be as widespread in a few years as expected?

"RPA is undoubtedly a very trendy and desirable issue. It saves time and resources when performing repetitive tasks, such as generating monthly invoices for a large number of customers. BluePrism, the RPA tool used in our project, is being improved with each version, so that automation itself is advancing and becoming simpler and more complex. I believe that RPA will be on the rise in the next five years."

You mentioned BluePrism, how do you like working with it?

"In general, BluePrism is considered one of the most comprehensive RPA tools on the market. It is robust and works well with key tools such as SAP or MS Office. Solutions to various tasks are relatively easy to find on the web, but the ability to try this tool is limited. The BluePrism environment itself is logical and clear. The possibility to finish programming your own objects is also excellent. In terms of cost, it is one of the more expensive tools suitable for large companies.”

German and Coffee with a Clear Goal - Level Up

German and Coffee with a Clear Goal - Level Up

We have created an online school. We educate 40% of the company on the MS Teams platform, together they form 34 classes. We started an intensive German language course in a virtual space 2 months ago. We do it at a time when human contact is lacking and work at the home office brings even more time flexibility. That is why we chose a partner for education - a language school that has a sufficient number of flexible teachers.

We operate internationally, but we supply up to 70% of our services to German-speaking clients. Good technical skills, quality of services and customer orientation are a matter of course for us. However, in professional and everyday communication, knowledge of the German language is proving to be one of the key factors for long-term cooperation. Therefore, we decided to focus on German more intensively and systematically.

This vision is closely linked with the company-wide development. Our goal is to be closer to the customer, to speak one language, to understand it better. This way we can provide our services even better," said Dodan Vojtko, Head of Delivery Center Fpt Slovakia.

And what does our intensive online course look like?

We learn but also play, to keep our colleagues motivated.Quizzes via the Kahoot platform, recommendations of interesting articles, videos or Youtube channels are a matter of course, and we also compete for interesting prizes. Thanks to that, we manage to follow progress casually. However, we do not omit initial and final tests and evaluations by our language school. We are interested in the opinion of colleagues and feedback on the basis of which we could improve the course and internal education.

Although we motivate ourselves in different ways in our virtual school, the greatest motivation comes naturally from the individual and his desire to learnWe have a vision of moving in the German language by at least one level - internally we call this initiative "LEVEL UP".

We are very pleased about the flexibility and willingness of our colleagues to change the “modus operandi." They appreciate the time saved, as the training takes place during working hours, without the need to move. Literally, our course looks like this: I'm sitting, having coffee and learning German,“ said Lucia Tomková, HR Manager at Fpt Slovakia.

TIBOR GUJDÁN, Multiplatform and Cloud Solutions

When I get up for work, I look forward to: The new challenges awaiting me, new opportunities where I can work with colleagues, thus getting new projects and increase business at FPT Slovakia.

My career path: I started as a .Net and Sql developer, where, I started, like everyone else, with simple tasks, gradually gaining experience until I was able to deliver and design complex solutions. Later, I decided on a career change and started focusing on people management and generating new business to take our company and our people to the next level.

I am responsible for: Designing services and delivery models for the customer, adhering to quality, development of people and, last but not least, finding new opportunities, projects for our and future colleagues.

The most amazing part of my job is: When two paths meet, namely the customer's request and the solution proposal of our team, which leads to the acquisition of the project and, of course, to the growth of our colleagues.

The biggest challenge I faced: It often happens when negotiating and defending the price of a solution in front of a customer and convincing the customer that we are the right partner, because the competition is fierce. But we at FPT can certainly provide a unique approach, with unique designs.

The most memorable moment in my career: When we tried to start a whole new stream in the field of SmartHome. We started two, but this business expanded thanks to our amazing commitment and eventually more than 26 people participated in it.

I expect from people: Transparency, humanity, sincerity, professionalism. I value when people have a vision, since I try to fulfill this as a leader.

When leading people I consider important: Communication. I want people to know they have my trust, support and they can believe in the decisions I make. I expect the same from my people, that's the only way it can work.

When I’m not working: I'm spending time with my family, when you miss this time, you'll never catch up. We have a lifetime for a career.
